About Educator Laptops

In support of Greater Victoria School District’s strategic plan and as a component of the Technology for Learning Strategy, the educator laptop program began in the fall of 2016 to better support our teachers. The vision is to create a learning environment that equitably supports and appropriately challenges our learners to reach their full potential.

Educator laptops are imaged with a standard set of software applications and teachers have the ability to download and install additional pre-approved applications on their own. The laptops are fully supported by the Service Desk, just like any other school district owned device. Teachers can take their laptops home with them to use for school district related functions.

Teachers assigned with a continuing contract of any FTE are eligible to receive a laptop which they can use in their teaching and learning. Laptops will be offered again for all eligible teachers in September 2018.

If you are eligible for an educator laptop and would like to request one, review the “guidelines and expectations” section of this website and then click on “Participate” to request an educator laptop.

Participation in this program is voluntary so all existing teacher desktop computers will remain in classrooms at least until the end of the 2018/2019 school year and possibly longer.

Teachers can also opt to use their own personal device in the classroom instead of using a district supplied laptop.
