BYOD is an acronym for Bring Your Own Device. In the context of the Greater Victoria School District BYOD’s refer to any digital device that is used on the SD61 network for work by staff or students including:
- Personal computers (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.)
- Personal Chromebooks
- Mobile Devices (tablets, iPhones, Android phones)
- Other specialized computing equipment purchased by schools, or external organizations such as SET-BC
Issues affecting BYODs may also affect district managed Macs, since Macs do not share all of the same privileges on the network that district managed Windows machines do.
