What is is Single Sign-On?

Single Sign-On is a service that reduces the number of times staff members need to enter their username/password in order to access various District supported web apps. Single Sign-On is now being used for GVSD Webmail. Other apps used by District staff also use Single Sign-On (ex. FreshGrade), and more will be added in the future.

How does it work?

Staff logging into a website will see a sign in box in the middle of the screen, surrounded by a blurred out background image of a classroom. This box is standard across all of the different web services that Single Sign-On supports.
You can be fairly certain that the login page is genuine by looking up at the URL in your browser’s search/address bar. It should look something like this (although yours might be white/light grey):
After you enter your email address (user@sd61.bc.ca) and click Next you will be prompted for your password in a box that looks like this:
Type in your password and click Sign in. Choose Yes and you won’t need to log in again.
Choose No next time you are required to sign-in on this computer you will be asked to select your username from a list that looks like this:
